A fire broke out Saturday in an apartment building on Montreal's West Island, leaving two people dead, firefighters say. The fire broke out early Saturday inside the building and spread to the roof, CBC News reported. Firefighters found two bodies in one of the apartments. Their identities have not been released.
About 100 residents were forced to leave their apartments. Some who took refuge on their balconies were saved by firefighters.
Residents of the building were taken to the Bob-Birnie Arena where Red-Cross workers were on hand to assist.
No injuries were reported during the rescue mission.
