World - Spanish firefighters managed to put out the first of six forest fires that broke out Sunday in Valencia province, officials said Wednesday. The Benissoda fire burned 67 acres before it was extinguished, ThinkSpain reported.

The fires not under control are in Chulilla, Ribarroja, Vilamarxant, Benicolet and an area between Xativa and Manuel.

Twenty-one airborne firefighting crews were being deployed on a rotating basis to put out the Chulilla blaze that forced the evacuation of 2,000 residents.

Officials said two of the fires are believed to have been started deliberately.
