Harrison Multiple Alarm Fire Leaves Homes Gutted
A three alarm fire that required several mutual aid departments to assist, destroyed two out of six homes in an attached structure in Harrison on February 25th. Heavy fire was already showing from the rear of 207 Warren St. as Harrison firefighters arrived about 7:15 PM. A second alarm was immediately transmitted bringing mutual aid companies to the scene and for cover. An interior attack was initiated, but the fire spread quickly up to the attic area and companies had to be withdrawn. Additional units were called to the scene as the attack went defensive. Three ladder pipes, one deck gun and numerous handlines went into operation and were able to knock down the heavy fire by about 9:00. Companies then re-entered to hit hot spots and overhaul. Mutual aid began to be released before 11:00

The fire attack and good firewalls held all of the heavy damage to the two center homes, with relatively minor damage to the attached structures on both sides. No injuries were reported, but one cat is unaccounted for. About thirty residents were displaced.
