Fire Guts Warehouses In Northern England
United Kingdom - Beer kegs exploded and flames shot into the night sky as a fire gutted five warehouses Wednesday at an industrial park in Northern England, fire officials said. The fire was reported about 5:20 p.m. at the Lancashire Enterprise Business Park in Leyland and had been contained by late evening, the Lancashire Evening Post reported. Fire officials said it would probably smolder for several days.

Officials said the fire appeared to have started in a warehouse storing tissue paper and spread from there to a chemical storehouse. The entire park was evacuated at around 7 p.m., and people living nearby were advised to stay inside with windows closed.

No injuries were reported.

About 150 firefighters were on the scene, The Guardian said.

"You can see the flames from miles around and there is smoke everywhere," Graham Thompson of Lostock Hall told the Post. "You can see constant flames and I can also hear little explosions going off. I just hope no one is still in there."
