Three-alarm Fire Hits Gerhardt USA In Dallastown
United States (Pennsylvania) - Around 150 firefighters from 15 departments responded to a fire in Dallastown borough Sunday night, said Darryl Ehrhart, deputy fire chief for Rescue Fire Co. Firefighters were dispatched to a Gerhardt USA facility at 400 Locust Road around 10:38 p.m. Sunday, Ehrhart said.

Smoke could be seen pouring out from the roof as crews climbed on ladders to reach the fire with hoses. There was a "heavy amount of smoke," when firefighters arrived to the scene, Ehrhart said. Lancaster County HazMat was dispatched to the scene as a precaution because it was a manufacturing facility, he said.

The company produces machine equipment, such as dies and cutting tools. It took about two hours for crews to extinguish the flames, he said, but there were no injuries.

Ehrhart said a cause is still undetermined.
