United States (North Carolina) - The Gastonia Fire Department responded to this commercial business fire at Wood Creations on Plastics Drive at 12:38 this afternoon. The company constructs exterior wood doors for homes. The first engine on scene reported moderate smoke showing from the west side of the building.

The fire started in a sawdust collections machine and was contained to the area by the activation of four sprinkler heads. Upon arrival. The fire department fully extinguished remainder of the fire.

There were no injuries reported and all employees evacuated safely.

The Gastonia Fire Department responded with three engines, two ladders, a heavy rescue unit and two Battalion Chiefs. Ranlo Fire Department responded with an Engine for mutual aid. A total of 24 firefighters responded to the scene.

This fire could have been much worse if this business had not been equipped with a properly working sprinkler system. The sprinkler system activated, giving the employees time to escape and contained the fire to area of origin.
