APSU campus evacuated due to gas leak


Firefighters were called and buildings in one of Tennessee’s major universities was evacuated Tuesday afternoon following a gas leak, sources say.

Students and faculty of Clarksville’s Austin Peay State University were hurriedly evacuated from the Trahern/MMC building after authorities were notified of a gas line rupture, according to the APSU alert system.

Clarksville Fire Department and work crews stationed nearby were rushed to the scene while Clarksville and APSU Campus Police cordoned off the area, disrupting traffic for some streets.

Following the all-clear given by CFD just after 3PM, the buildings and roads were re-opened.
